Members with compromised immune systems overwhelmingly agreed on wearing masks on planes, in airports, and in stores, especially during cold and flu season, with many sharing that their doctors support this choice. Several members described practical protective habits beyond masking, like stocking up on groceries before flu season, using telehealth to avoid doctor offices, relying on Lysol, and even posting no-visitor signs at their doors. A recurring theme was tuning out family and friends who called these precautions silly, with many members firmly agreeing that protecting their own health matters far more than others' opinions.

Interestingly, I spoke to my rheumatologist about just this topic today, and she very much recommends wearing a mask due to us being immunocompromised by our medications. I trust her opinion, and when it gets closer to cold and flu season, you better believe I’ll be masking up.

Spot on 💯 agree! We who are immunocompromised are the ones who bear the burden because John & Janey Q Public don't give a Rat's Ass about anyone but themselves! I plan to bring mine if I ever fly again! I am not wearing it in the stores yet, and might just do the "Let them shop for me and bring it to me" once flu season kicks in. I don't care what anyone thinks. Friends, Family or strangers! I'm the one who will be sick! And it could potentially kill me! I'm not entirely finished with my things here on Earth to meet Jesus just yet!

Lori and Jennie,
I agree 100%. The airplane, the doctor’s office, stores all have close contact with people. Most people are spreading germs before they are having symptoms. Some people will go out sick and really don’t care if they spread germs. When Covid hit our area, I wore masks and gloves depending on where I was at. My family laughed at me when I put a no visitors sign on my back door. I was taking care of my daddy and myself. I knew if I got sick that I couldn’t take care of him. We wore masks at doctor’s office and went only to doctors visits that were needed. My husband got covid from standing in line at the DMV. So oh yeah I’m going to wear a mask and gloves if needed. My daddy and I were very lucky. We didn’t get covid, flu or any respiratory viruses. Everyone around us was sick. Lysol is my friend.

Yes, I do. Masks are controversial, but it's my life and my safety, so I wear them in airports and airplanes. Also, once flu season kicks in, I'll wear them in stores, at the doctor's office and at the hospital. It at least makes me feel like I'm doing something to prevent getting sick.
