Been having painful leg muscle cramps for a couple of months but they have got worse in the week happening every night in the evening.
In May I went to the ER for palpitations and shortness of breath. After bloodwork was taken I was told I was low in magnesium. I was given a magnesium infusion to break up my levels.

I take magnesium every day. Usually 800 mg. I have for 20 years. No issues
But it does work better with vit D. Which my prescription ran out . I take 40,000 units per week
I take magnesium when they start cramping. I would talk to your doctor. It can be many things

Leg cramps for me were getting a mri lower lumbar and it was a nerve sticking out So I got a injection & PT much better I also have RLS. You have to be a advocate for yourself
Lisa, I've been wondering the same thing! My legs, both calves in particular, are experiencing muscle spasms and cramps. It's driving me crazy. I have an appointment with my rheumatologist at the end of the month, so I'll ask about it then.
