Been having painful leg muscle cramps for a couple of months but they have got worse in the week happening every night in the evening.

Members chimed in on the question about leg muscle cramps and their possible connection to rheumatoid arthritis, sharing that the cause can vary widely and may involve low magnesium or potassium, nerve issues, fibromyalgia, or restless leg syndrome. Several members recommended taking magnesium and potassium at night, getting blood levels checked regularly, and asking a doctor about daily supplementation, with some noting that magnesium works better when paired with vitamin D. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy, ruling out different causes like disc or nerve problems, and consulting a rheumatologist to get to the bottom of persistent symptoms.

I take magnesium every day. Usually 800 mg. I have for 20 years. No issues
But it does work better with vit D. Which my prescription ran out . I take 40,000 units per week

Lisa, I've been wondering the same thing! My legs, both calves in particular, are experiencing muscle spasms and cramps. It's driving me crazy. I have an appointment with my rheumatologist at the end of the month, so I'll ask about it then.
