I went to the dermatologist, again. Antibiotic cream, different steroids, moisturizers, cleansers are not working. So I asked for lab tests, biopsy to find out what is in my skin! Then, he reviews my meds and comments on cymbalta. Asks me what is it for, why am I taking it? Have I been diagnosed with depression..

The stigma around antidepressant use with RA is unfortunately common. It's important to understand that depression and anxiety are natural responses to living with chronic pain and reduced mobility. I hate doctors like that if it was me I would have just walked out. I have been treated like that before and it’s horrible. I’m on Zoloft and Xanax for the anxiety depression ptsd I have an appointment with a primary care doctor tomorrow for a full annual physical bc my gyno said I 💯 have hypertension from all the inflammation my body is dealing with. Once they see all my pills I take and all my specialists hopefully they won’t judge or ask me why I’m in so much pain. There’s other doctors out there that won’t judge and honestly it’s non of their business he’s just there to help you with your skin.
Jayne, that is awful how he tested you. I would definitely see someone else. I'm on Zoloft for depression and anxiety. So far I haven't had any of my doctors treat me like that. I have witnesses it with my girls. I have actually called nurses and doctors out for it. Some apologize and others just don't care. They are in the wrong field of work. I hope your next dermatologist is better.
You are right about people don’t understand about RA. Even my own family doesn’t understand. Now I just stand my ground. I use to struggle to get things done. Now if I am tired I just get in my recliner. My two dogs sit with me and give me snuggles and licks. It makes me feel better. lol
Now it is obvious by looking at my feet and hands. I can’t hide it anymore. My hands and feet stay swollen and inflamed. The nodules in my fingers are really showing. Thank goodness for jar openers. I bought a small machine that opens my jars and cans. I had my shower replaced so I just step over two inches instead of a big step. If you get a doctor to write a letter saying that it was required you can claim it off your taxes. It is a shame that Medicare/insurance doesn’t pay some. If you are a veteran, the VA will pay for it. Has anyone bought a walk in tub? I do know that it takes two 20 amp service if you get one with the jets/massage . I have not come across with anyone that has bought one. I miss getting a tub bath.
Greta2 I love talking. Its the only thing that doesn't hurt to do. Yet.
I appreciate your candor and sharing. I'll find a different dermatologist. He ain't the only one around, and I'll vote with my dollars.
Gee, that's a lot to deal with. Good thing you're a nurse. And feet problems are particularly miserable. I hope you get sorted out soon so you can get around better. Its good you are seeing a hand specialist too. I think you'll be glad.
I have 2 dogs also and the little one is always under foot or jumping up on my legs. The big one strangely doesn't trip me up. Except at night, bc he's black. But he watches out for clumsy ma.
And I will try coconut oil when I get clear enough to moisturize again. And Greta, thank you for the tip and understanding.
