I use a very large pen and take my time. I do text a lot more than I use too.
Try putting a compression glove on your writing hand and taking breaks and using a larger pen.
All these years the funny thing about pens, I swear doctor's look for the thinnest pens!

With carpal tunnel, swollen wrist, ulnar deviation and frequent trigger fingers, I can barely sign my name. Then add erosive inflammatory osteoarthritis, that's a particlarly severe hand arthritis.
Some days, i cannot grip a pen for electric shocks shooting from wrist into fingers and across hand.
I'm a writer and can't hold pencil long enough to make notes.
Oh yes. A few years ago before I quit working, my handwriting was awful. Can't stand to have to write much of anything down now.
My handwriting sucks now. I hate it. Plus trying to put together a list together or send a card is awful.๐
