I don't think I will be able to get off these medications due to an abdominal surgery. I was using Zantac but with the RECALL I'm going to try Pepcid. I'm really concerned after reading how anti acids can affect your body. Not one of my doctors warned me of the dangers and like a dummy, I never read up on them. Has anyone else had issues with their skin while using these medications?
I have also been on acid reflux meds for about 30 years now. Zantac, Now I have to take Zegrid over the counter and prilosec prescription. I haven't had problems with itching. But I did find out that it depletes your Vitamin B-12 and Vitamin D.
My system doesn't produce those 2 vitamins anymore so I have to take a B-12 shot and prescription Vitamin D, just to keep my levels normal.
B-12 and Vit D are not part of a regular blood test.
A lot of the RA meds do cause sensitive skin and itching. Hope you feel better. Hugs.
Ask your doctor for a prescription for Folic acid. It should help with hair loss. That’s what mine gave me for hair loss
I would think, about the antacids, that would be something to discuss with rheumatologist and doctor. You can discuss the itching with them. Hope you feel better soon.
I have severe itching that I have read is R/T RA and RA meds.
