Members shared mixed experiences with Cymbalta (or its generic form, Duloxetine) for pain management, with many reporting that it helped reduce pain levels, improved sleep, and eased depression, though some found it stopped working over time or required dosage adjustments. Several members mentioned practical considerations, including potential weight gain (around 40 pounds for one member), the risk of severe muscle spasms when combined with certain medications like tramadol, and the importance of monitoring potassium levels to avoid complications. A recurring theme was the trial-and-error nature of finding the right medication combination, with members emphasizing the value of experimenting to discover what works individually, staying aware of side effects, and combining treatments like CBD oil, heating pads, and other pain relievers to build a comprehensive pain management approach.

I take one at night and it changed my life. Before I was always on the edge of not coping with life because joint pain kept waking me up and my sleep was awful. Now I sleep better as I can return to sleep if woken by pain more easily and feel better in the morning. Think it just takes the edge off the pain and relaxes you a bit. I cannot recommend more highly as part of your arsenal for RA. Good luck.

Maridee, I have been taking CBD Oil for about 4 months now. It does take a while being on it to see if it works for you. It has helped with my mood (I find I laugh more) and it has relaxed me some. I'm not sure if it will help me with my sleeplessness or pain if I am on it longer. But even just improving my mood makes it worth it. I couple of weeks ago I got thrush. Part of having RA. I was put on meds. so I stopped the CBD Oil. I didn't want anything to interfere with it. After a couple of weeks of being off of it, I started taking it again. My mood changed after the second dose. Even my husband said something about how he likes me like this, lol He didn't know I started taking it again. Give it a try and see how you feel. If I can help in anyway, just let me know.

I gained a lot of weight on cymbalta (or the generic form)- so be really careful- I am still on a small dose of it (would like to take more... as it would help me much more- but, afraid of the weight gain)- I gained around 40 pounds and am unable to lose it (so far)!

Hi @A myRAteam Member, I started taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia years ago. It really helps, but now I take the generic form, Duloxetine, which works just as well. Hugs, Vickie

I have never tried Cymbalta. I have tried Tramadol. It does nothing for my pain at all. That is all my Rheumy wants to give me. I take Hydrocodone for my very bad pain. Most of the time 1/2 only a whole if going to bed. I only take if nothing else helps. Heat helps the most. Either heating pads or hot water soak. I also use CBD ointment. It helps alot also. I take adavant and trintellix for my depression and mood swings. Sometimes those don't keep me from going into a depression. I had 2 bouts with the thrush in December and January. OMG!!! Those are the terrible. I hope everyone finds what works for them. I really enjoy reading what everyone has tried and what worked and didn't worked. I try a lot of the suggestions to see if any could possibly help me. Thanks to all of you who are willing to share.
