It's Friday evening and I won't be able to call my doctor until Monday. Everyone has been sick around me and I feel I am coming down with it. It's really bad unless treated quickly. I have some penicillin that I can take but don't know whether I should

Yes, you can take antibiotics, but they have to be a specific type so that they don't interfere with your meds. I have been on antibiotics numerous times while on my methotrexate & Enbrel injections due to upper respiratory infections, surgery, dental infections et....but you need to have script from your physician. He will know what antibiotic you can take while on your meds.

I have been on MTX for several years, no problem with antibiotics. But I have to be off from them several days before a biological infusion.

I wouldn't take it either. It's important to be careful when on methotrexate. See the dr.

You should not take any antibiotics when you are taking methotrexate. If you need to take antibiotics, you should skip your methotrexate until 7 days after your last antibiotic dose.

I don't think so. If you are on methotrexate you must stop it while you're on antibiotics.
