Is anyone else on methotrexate and have to stop taking it until they are done with the antibiotics and the infection clears up?
I finally got to the point where my flare is done and I am feeling pretty good with the minimum amount of pain.
I am worried that if I stop taking the methotrexate I will flare again and I can't take any steroids.
What are your experiences with having to pause methotrexate due to an infection.

I've paused methotrexate while on antibiotics. The short term direction was not enough to trigger a flare, at least in my cases.
DO NOT take Bactrim with methotrexate!!! It’s a huge contraindication! Those two meds can’t be combined. Please call your doctor, rheumatologist or pharmacist for guidance.
Every time that I have started antibiotics I have to stop my RA meds. I take prednisone every day also because of my lung issues/asthma. I’m sure that if I did keep taking my RA meds that my immune system would be so compromised that I would not be able to fight an infection. So as soon as I finish my antibiotics which is a 14 day course I start my RA meds back. I get enough GI problems with the antibiotics. My GI tract would keep me in the bathroom if I continued the RA meds. Stay hydrated and get plenty of rest. Hugs to all.
I was told to stop RA meds for antibiotics and start them back after 7 days of my last pill left
I was told to stop taking methotrexate until I was done with the bactrim and the infection was cleared up. To message rheumatology when that happens and they'll let me know when to restart methotrexate.
