My pain is as if my bones are aching and I can't straighten my joints without pain. I cannot even put my arms straight over my head because it feels like my muscles and tissue is tearing and my shoulders won't preform the task. Well this is how I am today.

Members vividly described their rheumatoid arthritis pain as ranging from a deep bone ache and stiffness to excruciating sensations like being stabbed in the joints or bones made of red hot iron, affecting hands, thumbs, shoulders, ankles, knees, hips, and feet in ways that disrupt sleep and daily tasks like gripping or dressing. Several members shared practical strategies that have brought relief, including increasing Plaquenil dosage, gentle exercise routines like Wii Fitness, physical therapy for frozen shoulder, methotrexate for significant improvement, golf gloves and braces for support, icing and topical creams like BioFreeze, lymphatic massage, myofascial release therapy, and occasional pain medication. A recurring theme was the validation and comfort found in knowing others truly understand the severity and unpredictability of RA pain, along with the importance of working closely with doctors and experimenting with different approaches to find what works best for managing symptoms.

I wear golf gloves on my hands when they are sore. it helps some, also have wrist braces and ankle braces that I can wear when it starts aching. I ice once or twice a day while watching TV. When it's really bad I use BioFreeze or CryoDerm. A hot shower makes everything hurt more so I get it just warm. I need a pedicure every month and have to keep reminding them not to rub my feet, just cut and paint. I found a massasge therapist that does feather touches which is very relaxing and she did a class on how to help the Lymphatic system. Also have someone who does Myofasial release and that helps sore spots. If all else fails I take a Tramadol or Lortab, but try to keep those to one or two a month.

My RA pain is my ankles, knees and hands but right now my thumbs hurt the worst. I can't grip and that kinda makes it hard to fo anything. Try putting on clothes with painful thumbs..... I walk like frankenstein with the ankles. I fully understand. Hope we both feel better tomorrow.

My complaint is more stiffness...and not pain in the joints. I tell the drs it's like tenderness between the joints that bothers me and fatigue....not the kind that goes away with a nap. He says it's because RA is a connective tissue disease...inflammation is not only in the joints...it's everywhere.

Sometimes it is an ache and stiff, and other times it is so excruciating it feels like someone is stabbing me in my joints and I can't move the affected joints . It keeps me from sleeping and wakes me up when I do sleep, other people don't understand how severe it gets

I have two distinct kinds of pain. The first is an ache that throbs in my hip joint, knees, ankles and feet. The second kind feels as if the bone was made of red hot iron. This happens in my pelvis and in my hands.
