Does any have experience with dietary restrictions helping RA? Since being diagnosed I've heard so much about gluten-free diets helping with the pain. I love my bread but would be willing to give it up if it really works!

I have cut out dairy, red meat, eggs, soda and artificial sweeteners. Eating fruits, veges, salmon, nuts and whole grains. Only been on this a little over a week but my pain has decreased and I feel better overall.
I think wheat is a contributing factor to the inflammation. While we haven't moved totally to Gluten free living I have restricted breads and bread flour from my diet. I'm currently (4 weeks) into the Fast metabolism diet and eat spelt breads. Those breads are made from old fashion wheat grown before all the GMO's were introduced into most items on the shelves. If you haven't read the Wheat Belly diet check it out.
At seven weeks into my Leaky Gut diet, I can definitely say it was the best thing I could have done. My energy, both mental and physical, is so much improved, that I am truly amazed. I am doing some other things also, like treating candida and taking turmeric/black pepper every day in the form of "Golden Milk" ( you can google it for the recipe). I am so thankful to God for the improvements, and the people who are helping me. And yes, I still take my RA meds faithfully too.
I agree with Judy. Google "leaky gut and autoimmune disease." I started a diet program two weeks ago to heal my gut. Food molecules get through openings in the gut and cause inflammation in the body. Gluten is one of the worst. I can tell you that a year before I was diagnosed, I just decided to go off wheat and sugar. Without really trying I have lost 25 pounds. My current diet is even more restricted than that right now, but I am hopeful that it will do me good. The last couple of days my energy levels have been much greater.
I also tried glutenfree and lactose free diet, and my wrist swelling went COMPLETELY down after 2 months. I have read that also meat and eggs contribute to inflammation in our body, so I am thinking of becoming vegan -or a modified version of it: without gluten and with fish.
