That's a great question to explore! Anemia is actually a known comorbidity of RA itself, not just a medication side effect. Inflammation from RA can interfere with red blood cell production, which can lead to fatigue, dizziness, and weakness.

When it comes to Rinvoq specifically, anemia is not listed as a common side effect on its FDA-approved label. The more commonly reported side effects include:

- Upper respiratory infections
- Fever
- Nausea
- Cough

However, rare but serious side effects can include:

- Life-threatening infections
- Blood clots
- Liver problems
- Lymphomas
- Tuberculosis That said, since RA itself is strongly linked to anemia, it can sometimes be hard to tell whether anemia is being caused by the disease or influenced by a medication.

If anemia is a concern, it's always worth bringing up with a rheumatologist, who can run blood tests to monitor levels and help figure out the cause. Other myRAteam members have shared similar concerns, and tracking symptoms alongside lab results tends to be the most helpful approach.

Rebecca I have problems with anemia but I don’t take Rinvok. They think it is because of the RA that I’m anemic.

I know Rinvoq side effects can be gastrointestinal bleeding. Not sure how long you have been on it., or you are taking NSAID with it.
