So many of my symptoms don’t match well with RA. I don’t have stiffness in the morning that lasts more than 30 minutes. Weather does not bother me. My joints are not deforming. My “flares” last years not days or weeks. My tendons bother me more than joints. ( foot and ankle tendons, outer hip and thigh tendons and back of the knee tendons as well as wrist tendons). My neck is involved with stiffness and emanating from around the occipital bone. The neck pain moves from one side to the other… read more
John, I had the issue of all my tests coming back negative for years. I was never diagnosed as seronegative during this time. I had symptoms for 8 years before I finally a positive anti-ccp test at the beginning of this year. You could be in very early stages, which is why you are having SOME symptoms that seemingly just don't add up to RA. I also have way more muscle and tendon involvement than joint involvement. I have OA in my lower back. My hips are a big problem, but I haven't had any imaging done of them to know if RA or something else is causing my hip pain. Be thankful you are being treated! Suffering through all of this for years and being left to feel like a crazy person is no fun at all! I will say that now that I do have treatment, my tendon and muscle involvement doesn't seem any better. I just started seeing a new rheumatologist, so hopefully we can get it worked out soon. Hang in there! Your tests could certainly turn positive at some point. Don't wish for that as seropositive is typically much worse! Good luck, John!
Just RA is an understatement. Every person has different symptoms, though some have the same.
Also John, once you have more than one autoimmune disease, it is very common to get more. I have actually wondered about ankylosing spondylitis with my back. But Im just going to hope that a pinched nerve is the answer 🤣. My lower back is swollen right now, and its hard to move without a jolt of pain in my back. I'm hoping PT will help get it worked out! 🤞 Definitely be thankful for any pain you don't have!
Thanks for the response and encouragement. I don’t have any back pain which is a blessing I suppose. I have heard that is a sign of ankylosing spondylitis.
Did they do an anti ccp test? All my other tests were negative too.
