Mine have lasted anywhere from a couple of days to 3 months. I find the better your RA med works the less you have them. And if you do have them they are not as bad.
So sorry to hear you're going through a flare right now — that's really tough. RA flares can vary a lot from person to person, and there's no single "normal" timeline.
Here's what some myRAteam members have shared about their flare durations:
- Some flares last just a few hours or days
- Others experience flares lasting Show Full Answer
The current flare I’m in has gone on 5 months- left shoulder, fingers on both hands and cervical spine
I’m so weary of it all😔
Mine lasts anywhere from a couple of days to 2-3 months. I don't usually use Prednisone unless it's bad for a week or more. That's just me though because it lowers my immune system.
When I feel a Flare ♨️ starting I start taking Prednisone. It usually only takes a few days to maybe 5 or 6 and it is usually resolved. The last Flare I took
40mg Prednisone day 1
20mg Prednisone day 2
10mg Prednisone day 3
5mg Prednisone day 4
2.5mg Prednisone day 5
♨️Flare♨️ Over
Doesn't mean this is what you should do, just that it is what worked for me as an example only.
