I have a basement full of exercise equipment & want to exercise but I still work full-time even though I've been able to transition to working from home permanently but after working all day for 8 hours I have no energy left. My job consists of nonstop writing & typing. My sIeep is also terrible which makes the fatigue even worse too. I know some form of exercise every day is important even if only for 5-10 minutes a day. I've heard pool exercise is the best but I live in a rural area where this… read more
I had several sleep studies. First sleep study determined I have mild sleep apnea, periods where I just did not breath in correctly disrupted my sleep. I did not have a lot of restful sleep. Doctors tried to make me use a machine for breathing, I got annoyed with maintaining the thing. I avoid as much caffeine as I used to have and will use a weighted blanket some nights.
Maybe bring it up during a physical with your physician or try to google: sleep study near me.
I set my alarm when it’s time for exercise. I exercise to music or watching tv. I’m limited now because of foot surgery. I do leg exercises to keep my leg strength. I use 3 lb weights for my arms. I have to use my arms basically to get out of a chair. I have two seat lift chairs but I try not to use them. In the past I have been so weak that I had to have one. You can carve out a time in your schedule and do chair exercises. I suggest that you get out of your chair at least every 2 hours to prevent blood clots. I use this time also to drink fluids.
Cindi, my GD wants on. Maybe one day I will get one. I have to quit walking at night when it's cooler. With my feet and lower back I'm not sleeping at night. So it would probably be after I see about an epidural for my low back.
Michelle, I've done chair yoga and tai chi. I love tai chi. I had to stop because of my feet. But when I'm better I'm going back to that. Chair yoga is low in impact but at least your moving.
I forgot this.....
At my last Rheumatologist appointment I asked him about it and he has a good friend who has actually been involved in the development of one these and was very impressed that First of all I even knew about them, and Secondly that I own one! He highly approved!
@A myRAteam Member I too have many exercise options in my basement that go untouched. The treadmill makes my hips and legs hurt. I can't remember now what reason I have for the stationary bike, but I'm sure it's a valid concern!! Lol 😆
Here's my solution, and it's a good one .....
I bought (Iknow, I know, another machine, but hear me out) I bought a wave VibrationPlate from a reputable company called LifePro. And I LOVE IT!!!
So many benefits and all that is required is to turn it on and stand on it. Nothing else!
The literature says it benefits anyone and helps with Neuropathy, Balance, Osteopenia or Osteoporosis. Probably more things than I have listed. It feels wonderful to stand on.
Now since I wasn't sure about it I invested in the least expensive one. But also, that model has an attached handle to hold onto. Which I use! It gives you as much body benefit as if you had been running, jogging, or walking depending on how far apart you place your feet. It is something I do every day!
This picture is my exact model! So you all can see what I'm talking about.
