- Applying heat (warm baths, heated blankets, hot water bottles) or ice packs to painful joints
- Getting extra rest and reducing stress where possible
- Very light movement or gentle exercise, if your doctor approves
- Over-the-counter NSAIDs or corticosteroids — ask your rheumatologist about short-term options
The most important step right now is to contact your rheumatologist and let them know the flare isn't improving. They may be able to offer a short-term treatment like a corticosteroid to help bridge the gap while Enbrel and methotrexate rebuild their effectiveness.
