Yes, some people with RA do experience TMJ or jaw pain on and off because inflammation can affect the jaw joints too. It can feel like stiffness, soreness while chewing, or even difficulty opening the mouth fully during flare periods. Since jaw pain can also happen for other reasons, it’s best to keep track of symptoms and discuss it with a rheumatologist.

Thank you for your reply. Cathy. I do not have an overbite; nor do I chew gum or have a regular problem with my jaw. It occurs once every blue moon, but when it does, it sure hurts to open my mouth or chew for a few days! I'm glad your jaw pain has stopped.

Funny should ask that I have an overbite but recently have a lot of clicking going on in my jaw but I was chewing a lot of gum due to the fact that quit smoking so through the freaking gum away as I didn't need that going on too with everything else. The pain has stopped and there are exercises that you can do that I found on Instagram that are helpful.
