That's a really frustrating situation β€” and unfortunately, not uncommon. RA absolutely can cause bone-on-bone damage in the shoulder, even if it wasn't clearly explained.

Here's how RA can lead to this:

- RA causes inflammation in the joint lining (synovium), which damages cartilage over time
- Without cartilage cushioning, bones eventually grind together
- Up to 70% of people with RA experience shoulder involvement at some point
- Bone erosions from RA can progress silently, sometimes without obvious symptoms until damage is severe A myRAteam member described a similar experience, noting that X-rays of her wrists showed bones "practically bone on bone" due to RA-related bone loss β€” and she had to piece that connection together herself.

When doctors don't connect the dots, it's worth directly asking your rheumatologist: *"Could my RA have contributed to this joint damage?"* You deserve a clear answer.

Total reverse shoulder replacement is a recognized surgical option for severe RA-related shoulder damage, so you're not alone in this journey.

Well then hopefully won't turn into a bionic woman eventually should i get all new body parts by biting the bullet and opting for surgery which DO NOT WANT TO, so just living with the discomfort with a little relief from Salon Pas, Tylenol and Tramadol 😊
