Methotrexate 20 mg pw since nov 2017, with Folic acid 5mg x twice per week
enbrel from nov 2018 to feb 2025 when it was losing effectiveness.
Changed to Simponi Feb 2025, no change .
Need occasional top ups of prednisolone, ususally 10mg daily for two weeks followed by 5mg daily for two weeks then stop
Just completed one week of 10mg.
There is Orencia too which I get every 4 weeks as an IV infusion. I did the Simponi Aria IV infusion every 8 weeks but it did nothing for me. I also tried the weekly Enbrel injection but had an allergic reaction to it. Talk to your Rheumatologist as there are quite a few different Biologic options. I am also on Sulfasalazine of which I take 4 pills twice a day & also a daily Luflonomide pill. I too still need Prednisone on occasion & my Rheumatologist is considering switching me to Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) & taking me off the Sulfasalazine since I've been flaring on & off since last month but my flares were far & few between before that for almost about 8 months.
