Hi Kusha, I was on methotrexate for 3years via injection pen, can honestly say I was lucky as no side affects, it was a fairly low dose. Have been off it for 5 wks now as ive been in remission since last year but have been too scared to come off it previously, long may it last but with RA you just never know. Unfortunately I'm currently dealing with osteoarthritis of my right hip and just waiting for results of my xray to see how it has progressed over the last few years.... Old age is just a joke huh 😂.... Hope you are doing well and coping x
Thank you all for your replies. I am overwhelmed and now no more feeling alone on my journey of arthritis. I am definitely going to share my experience with biologics with you all. Lots of love to all of you . Please take great care of yourself.
Hi Kusha! Nice to meet you. I have been taking methotrexate for over 4 years, and have been on different biologics for like 4 years. I currently have methotrexate, enbrel, hydroxychloroquine, and prednisone 5mg. I had some mild nausea when I took the methotrexate pills, but I have since changed a few years ago to methotrexate injections which I don't have any side effects. The enbrel usually makes me just a little tired on the injection day. Overall, no issues really. I have more issues from the RA. I will say because the enbrel is a TNF inhibitor, respiratory illness is something that I am careful with, but still catches me. None of the drugs work fast though.... each took several weeks for me to see a good improvement. I hope you feel better soon. ❤️
Hi Kusha, I have taken Methotrexate for 3 months, which took about a month for it to start helping and for the side effects to subside. However, I took 10 mg Prednisone with it and couldn't come completely off that. Had my first Cimzia (biologic) injections 5 days ago - what a lifesaver that has been and worked within 12 hours. I've tapered down to 5 mg Prednisone and am cutting back the Methotrexate (hopefully will be able to get of those and just get the Cimzia injections). Haven't had any adverse side effects yet. Good luck and best wishes for pain free days.
Hi Linda. For me they have not yet started. They are going to start soon. Thank you for sharing your experience and I will definitely share mine with you once get started.
