Hello. I’ve been on Rinvoq for quite some time and have been responding well. My ONLY complaint is that I tend to get sick more than I like (colds, things like that) but I have less flare ups. So I have to take the good with the bad. I just make sure I limit my interactions with sick people when I can. Since I’m a nurse I mask up always, hand wash frequently, etc.

Are you looking for experiences with Rinvoq after switching from Enbrel?
Starting a new medication after having a severe allergic reaction can feel overwhelming, but many people have successfully transitioned to different RA treatments when their previous medication didn't work out.
Rinvoq (upadacitinib) is a JAK inhibitor taken as a daily pill, which is different from Enbrel's injection format. Some things to keep in mind as you start:
- Talk openly with your rheumatologist about your concerns and the allergic reaction you experienced with Enbrel
- Ask about how long Rinvoq has been on the market and what data shows about its safety profile
- Discuss any potential side effects and what to watch for, especially given your previous reaction
- Make sure your doctor knows about all other medications you're taking, as drug interactions can occur
Many myRAteam members have shared experiences switching medications when their current treatment stopped working or caused problems. It's completely normal to feel hesitant about trying something new after a bad experience.
Keep your rheumatologist informed about how you're feeling once you start Rinvoq - both good and bad. They can only help if they know what you're experiencing.
