I've also gone through many med combinations. Some work for awhile, some have side effects I can't handle. I went off of the RA meds one time and tried to only do the hydroxycloriquine which I'd used for years. Worst flare ever. It took me another 6 months to get straightened out. Now I try whatever they want me to and if it doesn't work move in to the next. It's scary every time you try one but when one helps it's so awesome. RA is a practice in patience. That said, you do have a say in your treatment. You are your best advocate.

Hey @A myRAteam Member, try not to get discouraged because most of us in this site have gone through multiple medications before we found the one that we are currently on. I was on Enbrel for 7 years and then switched to Rituxan infusions, which I'm currently on. Since everyone's body is different and reacts differently, there isn't one pill, injection, or infusion that's going to suite everyone. It really is trial and error. I'll be praying that the Enbrel works well for you!

I have gone through just about all of them. They mostly work ok for about 6 months and then they tail off. Then I'm on to another. I don't know what is next. Good luck

Humira (Biologic) was a saving grace for me after Methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine almost ended my life! Tried another DMARD a few months ago per insurance providers request, not a useful DMARD for me. Going to request to be put back on bi weekly injections of Humira at next Rheumatology appointment!

I have not been able to tolerate a lot of the RA meds. Arava caused skin cancer. Methotrexate and plaquenil caused severe GI problems. Xeljanx caused blood clots in my legs and lungs. I take prednisone every day. Now I get Orencia infusions at MD’s office since my present drug plan will not pay for weekly injections after I did that for 5 years Go figure. Orencia does not cause the side effects that the others did. I do notice a slight headache. I started pre med with Tylenol and Claritin and it helps the headache issue.
