What could be causing pain from your butt cheeks to the back of your knee with rheumatoid arthritis?

You might ask the doctor to order a muscle relaxer like flexeril to help the pain. It will relax the muscles and joints. I tried meds like gabapentin but I literally could not walk across the floor. It made me drunk and dream crazy mess.
Every person is different. I have tried a lot of things through the years. Temperature changes bother me the most. I use a TENS unit that helps me. You just have to learn where to put the pads to get the most relief.
It's not a silly question at all. I would suggest drinking more water (assuming it might be a bit of a cramp) and also if you're on your back try easing the pain with a simple stretch (support your knee and slowly pull you knee up towards your chest). If you can manage, try getting up and walk exagerating your knee lift as you walk. Hope this helps a bit.
I had to use pillows just to alleviate the pain when sitting. I couldn’t lay on that side. I used Ice packs for the swelling. I had my hip injected under fluoroscopy. It helped for a while. I had pain in the whole hip, butt cheek and down to my knee. Even my knee was swollen. So got it injected too. I started taking Tylenol around the clock every 6 hours for 5 days. I can’t take NSAIDs because of my blood thinner. I also had RA, OA and bursitis in that hip by X-ray. I can understand your pain for sure. I hope that you get some relief soon
Greta, thank you for your response. My heating pad is the only relief I get. I take Hydrocodone 10-325 for my pain. Tylenol doesn't even touch it. My pain med eases it up but doesn't go away. And yes, down to my knee. I do stretches in the shower every morning. That and very warm water help.
