Hi Llsmith, I definitely think diet plays an important role. I recently listened to a podcast by Gary Brecka about autoimmunity . He talked about the mold, metal, plastics and parasites… That led me to looking into removing them. I ordered Resilia oil of oregano with black seed. It hasn’t arrived yet. I’m anxious to try it . Hoping it helps 🙏🏻 look it up and see if you think it might help you. Hope you have a restful night 🤗

Can fasting help with weight loss and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis?

There's some interesting evidence suggesting fasting may help with both concerns. Research indicates that fasting might improve clinical measures of body function and RA symptoms, with researchers suspecting that ketogenic diets could offer similar benefits. However, more research is needed to fully understand these effects.

Some myRAteam members have shared positive experiences with fasting:

- One member was surprised more people don't mention "fasting for relief or even consuming small portions instead of meals"
- Another noted experiencing "remission-like effects when intermittent fasting is practiced"
- A member found success focusing on small portions, saying their body handles foods well "as long as it is in small portions"

Important considerations:

Intermittent fasting involves following a schedule of planned eating times, such as only eating between certain hours or restricting calories on specific days. If you have a history of disordered eating, it's best to avoid intermittent fasting as it can trigger restrictive behaviors.

It's always smart to discuss any changes to your eating habits with your rheumatology provider, especially when managing RA.
