Is the enlarged lymph node in your right armpit related to RA inflammation in your right hand?

It's possible, but it's important to have this checked by your doctor. Enlarged lymph nodes can occur with RA for a couple of reasons:

Lymphoma Connection

People with RA have a modestly higher risk of lymphoma, which affects the lymphatic system including lymph nodes. While the risk in the general population is about 2 percent, it increases to about 4 percent in people with RA.

General Inflammation

RA causes widespread inflammation throughout the body, which can sometimes affect lymph nodes. However, an enlarged lymph node can also indicate infection or other conditions unrelated to RA.

What You Should Do

Please contact your rheumatologist or primary care doctor about this symptom. They may want to examine the lymph node, possibly order imaging or lab work, and determine if further evaluation is needed. Enlarged lymph nodes shouldn't be ignored, especially when accompanied by pain.

It's unlikely that hand inflammation alone would cause a swollen lymph node, but the systemic nature of RA means your doctor will want to evaluate this properly.
