While specific splint recommendations should come from your healthcare provider, there are several options available at pharmacies and online. The key is finding one that provides proper support and compression for your thumb.
Many myRAteam members have found relief using wrist and thumb splints. One member shared that using splints helped prevent twisting motions that can aggravate pain. Important steps before choosing a splint:
• Consult with your rheumatologist or physical therapist to find the best option for your specific needs
• They may recommend a custom-made splint depending on your condition
• They can also provide guidance on when and how long to wear the splint
• They'll help create a proper splinting regimen that works for you
Remember that while splints can help control pain and inflammation, they should be part of a comprehensive treatment approach.

I use a DropSky thumb brace (Dropsky Thumb Brace 4 Pack – Waterproof Thumb Splint with Gel Pad for Carpal Tunnel, Arthritis & Trigger Finger Relief – Adjustable Compression Wrist Stabilizer for Left & Right Hand) - from Amazon that reduces my thumb and wrist swelling, and gives some stability. Good luck - that swelling is painful!
