Taking 4 mg Folic acid has really helped me with stomach issues. My Rheumatologist started me on 1mg a day & I moved up to 4mg a day. It really helped with my IBS & side effects from the medications too.

Yes, stomach problems are quite common with RA. Studies show that people with RA have a 50% higher chance of developing lower digestive tract issues and a 70% higher chance of upper digestive tract problems compared to those without RA.

There are several reasons why stomach aches may occur with RA:
• Chronic inflammation affecting the digestive system
• Gut bacteria imbalances (dysbiosis)
• Side effects from RA medications like NSAIDs, corticosteroids, and DMARDs If you're experiencing regular stomach aches, it's important to discuss these symptoms with your rheumatologist. They can help determine if your symptoms are related to:
• Your RA inflammation
• Medication side effects
• Other digestive conditions that commonly occur with RA

Together with your doctor, you can explore potential solutions, which may include adjusting your current medications or adding treatments to help manage digestive symptoms.
