Life with RA has been a weight ROLLER COASTER. When I was first diagnosed I lost over 60 lbs - I was the sickest and the most pain - I’ve ever been in my whole life BUT the HAPPIEST I’ve ever been about my weight at the same time. What a state to be in! HAHA. Then I finally got my pain under control and RA managed with medication AND just like that - OVER NIGHT it felt like - BOOM - all the weight PLUS some came back. (CRYING) It’s quite the mental game. I barely eat. I never have any sugar. Where’s it coming from?! I work really hard daily to tell myself - Quality of life over weight. You’re not alone. Many of us here are struggling with the whole weight thing. With RA you should be avoiding sugars and gluten anyways - these are flare triggers. Most of the people here are on a Mediterranean diet.
Sadly yes, I've found the steroids prescribed have increased my weight plus an increased appetite. An unfair choice as without the medication the pain is so much more! Life hey !😒
