I take a weekly Mounjaro GLP1 injection because my A1C was high & I had gained some weight due to menopause & not being able to be super active due to my RA which has brought my blood sugars down to normal & helped me lose weight. Talk to your GP or Rheumatologist if you have excessive weight that you have been unable to lose as the extra weight can make it difficult for the body/joints when having RA & can cause other health issues..

Prednisone and other corticosteroids can indeed cause weight gain through multiple mechanisms:
- Increased blood sugar levels
- Insulin resistance
- Increased appetite and food cravings
- Fluid retention

Some of the weight gain from prednisone, particularly fluid retention, should decrease once you taper off the medication. If you're concerned about medication-related weight gain, here are some recommended steps:
- Talk to your doctor about your concerns
- Consider working with a physical therapist who can suggest appropriate exercises
- Ask for a referral to a registered dietitian who can help with food choices
- Discuss possible medication adjustments if side effects are significant

Remember that if a medication is effectively controlling your RA symptoms, the benefits may outweigh some weight-related side effects. Always work with your healthcare team to find the right balance for your situation.
