When taking supplements like folic acid alongside methotrexate, the most important factor is following your healthcare provider's specific instructions about dosing and timing. While the form (soft gel vs tablet) may affect personal comfort when swallowing, both forms can be effective when taken as prescribed.

For those taking methotrexate, folic acid supplementation is essential as it helps prevent side effects like mouth sores and gastrointestinal issues. Your doctor will determine whether you need a single weekly 5mg dose or smaller daily doses. If you find soft gels easier to swallow and tolerate well, and you're experiencing good results, there's no medical reason to switch to tablets. The key is consistency with your prescribed supplement routine and regular monitoring by your healthcare provider to ensure the supplements are working effectively with your methotrexate treatment.
