Members overwhelmingly encouraged moving forward with total knee replacement surgery for RA and OA, sharing that while the first week or two involves surgical pain, the relief from chronic arthritic pain is immediate and life-changing. Several members emphasized that rigorous physical therapy is absolutely essential for the best outcomes, with many crediting their diligent at-home exercises for achieving full mobility within 5 to 8 weeks and maintaining great results years later. A recurring theme was practical preparation, including arranging help for at least four weeks, using tools like ice packs, walkers, and elevated toilet seats, and not being afraid to take pain medication during the toughest recovery days.

I had a good experience with my knee replacement. First thing I realized when I woke up was that the arthritic pain was gone. I strongly advise doing your stretching. It makes recovery easier and faster. Good luck

Good morning Pamz ☀️ I had robotic tkr 3 1/2 years ago. Then hip replacement surgery 1 1/2 years ago. The knee surgery pt was pretty rough but so worth it. I’m so glad I had both surgeries done. Stay strong, you got this 🤗

We are all going to be bionic when we die. LOL Find something to laugh about. It helps me to feel better. A little bit, at least. I'll be damned if I'm going to let this disease get the best of me. It is a constant struggle to stay positive.

I’ve had everything replaced…sigh. Knees were first. Came out of anaesthetic knowing arthritic pain was gone. Post surgical pain was totally manageable. DO the physical therapy FAITHFULLY!!! 22 years later, knees are great!!
