Encinitas, CA

"Pannus is a type of extra growth in your joints that can cause pain, swelling, and damage to your bones, cartilage, and other tissue." I will see my doctor next month, but I'm not sure if I have this. There are squishy lumps below my ankle bone, making it difficult and painful to walk - even to wear shoes. Does anyone else have this?

Hi AceCas - Thanks. Read your story and saw your photo of your dogs and guitars. I feel for you. When this RA hit me Jan 4 2023 I could not walk, use my fingers, hands, knees, nothing! It hit one day and moved up my body to my shoulders. My husband is wonderful to help me with everything and the house chores, cooking and our two dogs. He also does all the errands. He is retired now but had a water truck and dozer and was the mechanic for them. He also plays an electric guitar and base. I have a guild guitar, but I cannot play yet - I am working on it, but it is painful. I am taking your advise. On the meds, I can now do most things, but slowly and not too much in one day. Thanks for sharing - it helps. God bless you.

I'm amazed you can get by on that - takes alot of grit and a strong will. I think I will look into the THC - hope the edibles will work. Thanks for the tips. Have a good weekend.

The only thing I take is prednisone. Two a day plus Advils. I don’t drink but I use THC. It does help relax the body

Thanks AceCas ~ It is a sad day when we cannot do the things we used to, or the things we want to! It took me 4 months in absolute pain to find the Rheumatoid Doctor - But she is helping me. Since April 2023 I've been on Methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine with Prednisone. I'm off the Prednisone now, but I was better when I was on it. I don't like taking any medication, but I realize if I don't take any, I cannot even function. It sounds like you are off medication - is that right? If so, I don't know how you are dealing with the pain. I do like a glass of wine in the evening to relax me. Looking forward to happy hour. Have a good one.

Hi good morning hope today is a better day. A few heads up. I’m not sure but by now you should have a RA doctor. Don’t settle for just any. The first one it took me almost two months to see for him to tell me that I didn’t have what I was already told. I was HOT!! another month to see the second one. Just by telling him what i was feeling. He told me what was going on and blood work proved to be true. Anyway Get a good doctor embral with the prednisone (maybe spell wrong) and Advils. That’s what got me through 20+ years. This Halloween will be 26 years I don’t take the embral anymore I did start on rinvoq. But also stoped taking it. I made the decision to stop talking both of them probably for the dumbs reason. So they seem too work and maybe even feel normal. And there is my problem. I can’t stop myself from thinking… well hell I can go work in the yard doing my wood work or welding. Come to find out that yeah no.. I’m telling you I do more damage, I actually hurt more because I can’t sit still. Crazy shit. To me it just seems like a lot of money for something that doesn’t help me maintain pain or swollen free. When all I really need to do is take my time to do EVERYTHING!!!
I cook clean and do yard work. I have learned to pace myself.
I am having to give up some wood working. But I can still play the bass. Can’t u a pick the right wrist is pretty much gone but the fingers move. Sold the Drums a few years back 😂😂 I remember the last time I use them i was out for almost all week I did enough damage that everything was swollen and hurting…. That’s when I stopped embral. Not that i was paying full price but 2400 a month and I can’t have jam section??? No thank you. Any who be safe feel better.
P.s . fingers on the guitar it works for me 🤘🤘🤘🤘
