I gained a lot of weight while I was taking xeljanz. My Prof said to cut the dose of either xeljanz or Prednisolone as the weight gain was not from one or the other but the combination of both. It didn't work. I tried restricting calories to 1200 - 1400 a day but it didn't work. I did Weight Watchers for 5 months but only lost 6lbs. When I took other JAK inhibitors I just lost the weight when I came off them but not this time. What has anyone else tried that worked? I also have type 1 diabetes… read more
You probably lose weight on methotrexate due to nausea. I took it for 18 years and I hate it. All side effects and no effect.
Since u have diabetes you are eligible to take ozempic or mounjao. They are once weekly injections that are sure to help u lose weight
I will be trying the mtx injections to see if I can stop some of the nausea. I also take Hydrox, but did & do pretty well on just it. My issues started after adding the mtx. Doc tells me it will improve with the mtx injection, as it is not so harsh on the stomach. Anyone experienced this with the mtx injections??
when i went to my appt last week, i asked about changing pain meds. i'm not taking the hydroxychloroquine any longer. now they have me on methotrexate. and so far, except for during a period i had over the weekend last weekend, i haven't had to add any extra ibuprofen. and the methotrexate i just take once a week. hopefully i'll start losing some weight soon. one of my residents had beenon hydroxy, and had been changed to methotrexate and said she lost some of the weight that she had gained. i haven't noticed any side effects of the medication yet, but i have only taken it once so far until i take my medicine tonight.
@A myRAteam Member Oxempic is very dangerous for people with type 1 diabetes! Especially if you have retinopathy. It's only safe for type 2.
