Coffee is a tough one. We all love it.
We shouldn't be drinking coffee for these reasons: It has zero nutritional value. Caffeine causes anxiety, heart palpitations, increased blood pressure and insomnia. Coffee dehydrates you. This is very serious for an RA sufferer since a body with RA is commonly dehydrated. Coffee is highly acid-forming thus weakening your bones and increasing your risk of osteoporosis. Caffeine is a strong stimulant, which gives you an illusion of having more energy but the truth is, coffee actually depletes your supply of B vitamins. Coffee is a heavily-sprayed crop, increasing your exposure to pesticides. Coffee drinking can inhibit absorption of iron, perpetuating anemia and limiting red blood cell production.

Decaffeinated coffee is a nightmare too, as the solvent commonly used to extract caffeine from the coffee bean, methylene chloride, is suspected of causing cancer. This solvent may also be responsible for the direct relationship between
decaffeinated coffee and the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis.

I heat up a cup of water and splash it/top a bit of it off, with some coffee. I found through trial and error myself that I was mostly interested in the smell and warm cup in the morning NOT the cups and cups of caffeine.

I'm not sure where you heard that. I don't think a cup of coffee will hurt you. Drink the coffee!
