I'm on medication for my RA, methotrexate and Humara shots, and still I continue to have weakness in my hands that makes it hard to do things like wash dishes or hold something tightly. Will I ever get my strength back?

Members responded to a question about regaining hand strength with RA by sharing a mix of dietary changes, practical tools, and professional support that have helped them manage weakness and grip issues. Several members suggested anti-inflammatory diet adjustments such as eliminating dairy, beef, pork, and soy, adding more vegetables and greens, and taking supplements like collagen peptides and vitamins, while one member recommended Pinch Me therapy dough from Amazon as a gentle and effective hand-strengthening exercise tool. A recurring theme was seeking help from a certified hand therapist for targeted exercises and methods, while maintaining realistic expectations that improvement is possible even though RA cannot be cured.

Changes in one's diet have not been proven to help RA. A HEALTHY diet is of course important. No diet will cure, no medication will cure. I believe a Mediterranean diet is a good choice for overall health.

You will. I agree with diet changes. Pay attention to your symptoms and your diet. I limit dairy. Grass fed butter only and nut milk. Unless it's ice cream. Haagen Dasz is the only ice cream worth the calories as far as I'm concerned. LOL. But there are some good coconut milk options. I also limit beef and eat grass fed only beef. No soy either. All of the above cause.me to flare. I take a good bit of vitamin supplements and collagen peptides. They help. also try to eat a vegetable of some kind with every meal even if it's just a few pickles. Take it easy on yourself. It's occasional weakness and temporary.
