Hi. New to RA. Is RA serious? Daily naps due to excessive fatigue. Seems to be spending from hands and feet to both hips. In my 50's, not sure what to expect. Thank you, stay well.

Members validated that rheumatoid arthritis is indeed a serious autoimmune disease that can affect joints throughout the body and even internal organs, but emphasized that early treatment and working closely with a good rheumatologist can prevent it from worsening or becoming crippling. Several members shared their personal experiences with RA affecting their hands, feet, hips, and neck, describing treatment approaches including Humira, Remicade, physical therapy with laser treatment, and the importance of balancing rest with staying as active as possible. A recurring theme was reassurance that while the disease varies greatly from person to person and the fatigue can be overwhelming, getting symptoms under control quickly and maintaining patience through the treatment process makes it possible to live well with RA.

Get yourself a good RA Dr some people have light symptoms and other have severe. If you an get it in remission you can continue to do most everything, if you don’t get control you will have crippling symptoms. Get control ASAP !!

RA can be very serious. I've just been diagnosed within the past year, but now that I understand the symptoms, I think I have had it for a long time. I have had terrible fatigue for a couple of years. I blamed it on my medicines. They may be partly to blame but the RA is a big part of it. Just started Remicade so we'll see what happens.
