For all those who care for small children-grandparents, nannies, etc- do you refuse to watch them on days when the kids have the flu or a similar illness because your immune system is suppressed from biologics? I watch my grand babies from time to time while their parents are working, but I have a hard time deciding what to do when I know there's a virus circulating in their home...

Every holiday I go around family and before RA RD I would get sick from one of the kids every time. I still go to the gathering and have fun, but I don't get on the floor (I don't know how long it would take me to get back up) and play with the new toys with the kids. I keep a better distance then before. It's a choice between hugs and having children on my lap or getting sick and ending up with a flare.
My granddaughter lives 8 hours away so I don't babysit. I'm an aunt and a great aunt.
I have a 6 year old who coughs and sneezes and picks her nose all the time. I’ve asked her to move out but she never leaves...lol
No but seriously I just try to not snuggle too much when she is sick and pray I don’t get sick. But if she didn’t live with me I wouldn’t be around someone who is sick knowingly esp now because every time ya get sick ya have to stop your meds
Same here, I stay away from sick, it take me longer to recover then they do.
Im a 30 year veteran classroom teacher. Im exposed to it all needless to say. Last week i fell super ill to the flu. I havent had it since 2008.... it was super scary. I feel like the experience has made me wiser for future flu- i will never insist on being alone again.... and i will now take the flu shot that ive been acting like i dont need. Im even considering staying away from my 5 month old grandson just to make sure not to carry germs to him. Sickness is real. Loved ones will just have to understand. Be smart. Stay well.
I watch my granddaughter all the time. Won’t give that up for nothing in the world. I usually take immune supplements that’s been working really well.
