Tuolumne County

I have fibromialga & neuropathy along with my RA. Most of my nights are miserable. With insomnia, body cramps, nausea & this ringing in my ears, there's no rest. I try to get comfortable but it doesn't last long. And does anyone else pee ALL night? Like every hour & a half to 2 hours. I'm new at all this & I'm kinda at loss. I don't know what is what. All I know is I'm tired of being miserable & missing my old me.

Members rallied around someone struggling with insomnia, night cramps, neuropathy, and frequent nighttime bathroom trips, offering both medical guidance and practical remedies that have personally helped them find relief. Several members urged seeing both a rheumatologist and general practitioner to rule out sleep apnea (a surprisingly common culprit for nocturia and fatigue), while others shared solutions including magnesium supplements for leg cramps, compression stockings for restless legs, white noise machines for tinnitus, tomato or V8 juice for nighttime cramping, cutting back on caffeine, and relaxation techniques like knitting or listening to nature sounds before bed. A recurring theme was the importance of advocating for proper medical evaluation while also experimenting with small lifestyle changes, with many members expressing deep empathy for the exhaustion and grief of missing their former selves.

I take a magnesium pill every night and don't have problems with leg cramps.

I have had problems with sleeping at night due to pain, leg cramps, etc. There are times that I wake up during the night and I go back to bed. I am lucky if I am able to get a full 8 hours of sleep. I discovered that when I get cramps in my legs, I drink a full glass of tomato juice or V8 juice. It seems to help with the leg cramps. I also discovered that changing my diet by cutting back on caffeine also helps. When I get stressed out I knit or crochet before bed and it helps me to relax and meditate.

I can relate o some of this as definitely need to get up at least twice a night. I also have insomnia and night sweats and can only have half a sleeping tablet occasionally because of other drugs I takes do nothing for now get sweats because of same issue. I also have tinictus think it’s the side effects of the tablets which makes me miserable and depressed. I se a white noise machine to block it out but over the years doesn’t bother me as much ch. I hope you find some solutions that might improve your quality of life.

Try a white noise machine to block out unwanted noises in your ears when sleeping

@A myRAteam Member H , wow , good for you with the weight loss! I’m a somewhat petite female, so by looking at me, I don’t really fit the profile of a person with sleep apnea . But apparently my small palette, overbite, and other anatomical features caused me to snore like a sailor and stop breathing. Agree , the fatigue is huge, which is what prompted me to see a sleep medicine specialist.
