Many different things play a factor on whether or not you'll get approved, the severity of the disease, your doctor's opinion, your lawyer & the opinion of the judge. If approved, how much SSI you get per month depends on how much you've paid into social security . Also you must have 30 work credits.
I only know that from experience. Depending on the state you live in, the reporting process and the Judges you might want to have legal advice as well. Hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
I applied back in December. I was told in January that because I'm still working but reduce hours. I'd not be improved. In Feb I received a call from SSI asking why In didn't send in paperwork. I told the lady about my visit to SSN office. She assured me that I needed to send paper work in. That they rec'd my doctor's note s. Primary, rheumatologist and ortho. Everyday I hurt more. I'm finally cutting my work hours even more. I hurt all over. Im still waiting.
Makes you wonder how people fraud the system.
Hi and that's so correct. Ss makes it hard for you though. Even if your doctor has a complete, totally proven diagnosis and treatment plan you are on, Social Security doctors are going to have to "check you out for themselves ". Most often they don't seem like they agree with your doctor either. I went to one of their approved doctors, did all their tests the best I could (couldn't walk without a cane or get up by myself from a chair), and was still denied. Took two years, two denials, a lawyer and an appointment with a judge before I was approved. They wanted me to go back to work. At 59. Judge granted it to me after about 10 minutes of questioning. You have to keep on it or you'll not get it.
