I live in London and am not responding to treatment using methotrexate (25mg) a week or Hydroxcholroquine sulphate (200mg) daily. I continue to experience flares with the last and worst one in April lasting 10 days. I had a steroid shot which helped but won't last long and I can feel start of another flare.

I have been offered biologic - Benepali or STRAP trial and randomised treatment with one of three biologics- Rituximab (infusion) Tocillizumab or Etanercept (both injections). I have… read more

Hi Shabina,
I’ve tried biological infusion Mab Thera for a year didn’t help me just weight gain.
Done enbrel injection for a year along with methotrexate injections once a week. Started with cortisone pills every day and methotrexate pills 6 a week before injections. Did simbony injections.
Nothing worked . I’ve been off meds since November 2017 . I’m good still stiffness in the morning some pain , but I deal with it without meds. I just listen to my body. When I feel that my body says stop I stop. Hope I’ve helped.

Hi I have used all three of the drugs and I also was on the U.K. trial for Tocilizumab infusion. I have just changed from Toci after several years due to it stopping to be effective. I didn’t get on with the Toci injection as it was a smaller dose (162mg per week in stead of 800mg per month) and it upset me s/e lasting 3 days per week as to 3 days per month. It is a case of trial and error with what suits and will help to put disease into remission, as to long term effects, non of us know what the future holds and my personal view has always been ‘if I get a few good years on this medication then to me that’s a good trade off to an issue that may or may not happen in the future’

Hope this helps
A

I have been on Tucillizumab infusions for a year. Studies have said that it is the most effective of biologics in that class. I am happy with it so far. All biologics talk about side effects but have none so far. Methotrexate has worse side effects I think. Wish you luck and hope something helps.

Im on Enbrel (entarecept) injections. They have been helping me up to now. Been on a year give or take. I haven't had any problems. My rheumatologist feels though, that it's no longer working for me. We're in discussion about what to use next. She recommends remicade infusion. Im holding out just a bit longer hoping things get better again with the Enbrel.
