Members shared many helpful tips for dealing with nightly leg cramps, especially for those on methotrexate. Several members recommended taking magnesium and potassium daily, eating bananas, drinking coconut or watermelon water, and staying well hydrated throughout the day and night. A recurring theme was using warm baths or showers before bed and tonic water, with one member noting their rheumatologist's PA specifically suggested tonic water to help reduce nighttime cramps.

I've found that taking potassium and magnesium each day has stopped the massive leg cramps I used to get. If I forget to take them the cramps come back. I take prescription potassium because I've been told that the prescription stuff is betterr absorbed.

Drink more fluids and a banana a day or food with potassium. I have heard not to just take potassium because you can get too much or maybe get your blood levels checked for your electrolytes? Just suggestions, hope it helps!
