I was diagnosed a year ago and have been on the triple therapy of Arava, Plaqunil, and Sulfasalazine. I can no longer tolerate these and my Dr. wants to start me on Humira injections. I’m afraid I will have problems tolerating this type of therapy also. Looking for alternative solutions.

Yes I've been on low dose naltrexone for over a year, initially given it for polymyalgia. It certainly helps with mood, but I don't know if it does anything for pain. I was put on plaquenil for poly and was taking prednisone all along. Then got whopping pain, could hardly walk so they upped prednisone put me on methotrexate and still on plaquenil.
I think the low dose naltrexone keeps me more positive....it releases the feel good endorphins that runners get after exercise . no side effects for most people.

I started with Arava and it didn’t help much so the Dr. added plaqunil and then sulfasalazine later. It worked work awhile. Then I had severe exhaustion and anxiety with shortness of breathe. Saw a hematologist and found I hemolytic anemia. So took me off everything and back on prednisone to build my red blood cells back up.
