Members responded to someone experiencing daily vomiting and severe pain alongside their rheumatoid arthritis, with many acknowledging similar GI struggles linked to RA medications rather than the disease itself. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them, including anti-nausea medications like Zofran or Phenergan, daily probiotics or yogurt to support gut health, L-Glutamine supplements, avoiding NSAIDs that can cause ulcers, and working closely with both rheumatology and GI specialists to rule out complications like diverticulitis, H. pylori, or cyclic vomiting syndrome. A recurring theme was reassurance that while these symptoms are deeply uncomfortable and disruptive, they are often manageable with the right medical support and lifestyle adjustments, and members emphasized the importance of the upcoming GI appointment to get clear answers.

Have you gone on Zofran sublingual or Phenegran topical for your nausea. I have that on hand all the time. My Rheumatologist gives it to me. I also take a probiotic- this is very important because some Drs believe this RA comes from the gut. I eat activia. - try to eat yogurt daily for the probiotic effect. I take Ashwaganda for my immune system in the morning- it gives me more energy. I take selenium 200 mg at night to combat the antibodies that attack my thyroid. I was just recently was diagnosed w Hashimotos hypothyroidism. This is another form of auto immunity. I see an Immunologist to help w all this. I too was extremely fatigued & gained 30 lbs in 3 months when he diagnosed me w Hashimotos. I take .55 mcg of Synthroid in the am for it as well. I hope this is a helps for a start. You could have h pyloric which is treated w antibiotics & Prilosec.

I have a cousin that suffers from that but I can’t remember what she said it was called, I looked it up and it’s called Cylical vomiting syndrome. She barely got diagnosed back in 2006 and she’s almost 40 so she suffered with it for years. Might want to do blood work to see all possibilities and if your stomach enzymes are helping aide digestion properly

I've had GI issues with RA meds but I've had a lifetime of digestion problems. And after a few months of the meds, my horrible nausea has calmed down. Seldom nauseous now. I hope you find an answer. I know how horrible that feels.

I have terrible GI problems. Lately everything tastes awful and can barely eat anything. i try to stay away from inflammatory foods. I take a stomach pill and my RA book suggested L-Glutamine. It is an amino acid available only at health food stores. it does help.

It's either the meds you are on or possibly another illness causing it.
