Members rallied around the question of finding comfortable shoes for hurting feet, with Crocs, Sketchers, and athletic shoes like New Balance and Asics emerging as the most popular choices for their cushioning, wide widths, and ease of wear. Several members recommended specific strategies such as wearing shoes a half size larger, using custom orthotics or inserts, seeking orthotics appointments through rheumatology clinics, and exploring brands like Dansko, Fly London, Spenco, and Rock Springs that offer good arch support and accommodate swollen or misshapen feet. A recurring theme was the shared experience of needing some type of footwear at all times due to foot pain, the value of stretchy or unstructured shoes that adapt to changing foot shapes, and the relief of finding affordable yet supportive options that make daily activities possible.

I have severe ra in my feet and love Spenco shoes. I'm a hairdresser and stand all day. Theses are the best

I know they are not popular but I wear crocs - fit well and easy to wear = also affordable since my foot measures 5 1/2 triple E !

Athletic shoes are the only shoes I wear.....I need wide, and prefer New Balance too.

I've been buying sketchers and am buying a half size larger than what I use to wear. Barefoot kills my feet too!
