Don't take steroids unless you absolutely have too and if you do don't be on them for a long time as they cause more problems after long term use.xx
I agree about changing doctor if you think they don't care, but it's better the devil you know sometimes... My rhumy is ok ish!!! But seeing rhumy nurse now and she is fantastic, caring and talks to me like she knows how I feel.... My rhumy says excersise, loose weight then when he says the pain is from ware n tear I say, well I won't move then I can't ware n tear it!!! But then says no I can't do that.. ???? If your hands aren't swelled up then your not in pain.... So annoying n upsetting cause you think your going nuts.... They moan about giving me Steriod injection every 3 months n can only have it every 4 months?? If I can hang on that long.. Good luck bout changing .... Xxx
Hi HateuRA,
I switched doctors for the same reason. Seemed like she had no clue what was wrong and maybe didn't believe my pain. It's so important to have a doctor that you feel is understanding what you are going through. I was wondering if there was a doctor out there who had RA. It's hard to understand something you don't experience yourself. And steroids are great short term but can have horrible effects on your body in other ways. Good luck with the search. It's so hard to feel like you are starting over again but well worth it to find that Doctor that you trust. Hang in there!!!! I wish I could hug you! ๐
Hi there, I wouldn't worry about not being on that nasty drug, it works for a lot of people but if it didn't work for you no problem.... I have a Steriod injection in my leg.. Big ouch!!!! ... Every 4 months which helps me considerably, it takes all my swelling down in my hands and feet n I feel so much better.... As long as your feeling ok that's all that matters.. Have a good day. X
Unless you are really needing a steroid avoid them as far as I'm concerned. And if you can get off them when you can that would be better. They have their place but long term use causes it's own problems. Ask your doctor about the effects on your body or google it (better to ask doc).
