I have tried adding a tumeric supplement to my diet to help control inflammation. I stopped taking my voltaren and started taking the tumeric. After seven days the pain was too intense without the voltaren so I went back on it and kept taking the tumeric. Now I have no idea if the tumeric actually helps or not! The supplement I bought was expensive so I don't want to continue it if it doesn't work
I tried turmeric tablets, also the paste but didn't find it made any difference, someone said to keep using it but was getting sick of the taste and as I didn't notice any difference decided not to waste my money. I find natural products don't usually work for me, tried different things for migraines but no luck with them either. Some things work for some people, you have to try everything, and hopefully you will find something that might help you, but people shouldn't tell you something WILL work as everyone's body is different.
Hi Everyone, Just to say that I am taking Tumeric paste twice daily which is home made and can be frozen in batches. Have been on it for 10 days and it seems to help my hands and wrists. Was being woke up at night whenever i moved them but now not causing me pain!!! Hoping to improve more as time goes on. Can let you know how to make it if interested? On facebook you can find The Tumeric User Group UK which you might find useful. The only drugs I am taking is two tablets of Sulfasalazine per day as taking four does not seem to agree with me. Wishing you all the best.
I make a lemon and honey drink with a tea spoon of Tumeric and ginger. Nice hot or cold. My philosophy is it can't hurt and herbs and spices were used to treat people long before the drug companies came on the scene. I do take a demard and pain killers. If nothing else it increases my fluid intake and keeps me hydrated. I also use a chili based cream to rub in and Glucosamine and Chondroitin which my Rheumatologist has recommended. So why not try anything that MAY give you some relief. Just check it doesn't interfere with your prescription.
I take it everyday in addition to my RA medicine. I've heard from several herbal specialists and a doctor that it helps ease inflammation throughout your body so can't hurt. It can be expensive depending what brand you get but there are reputable sources online that are a bit less expensive.
Yes, I took tumeric with my Orencia, and mtx. It helped lower inflammation for about two months then I develaoped a rash. Not sure if it caused it, but havnt tryed it again yet.
