How Long After Symptoms Start Do You Actually Get A RA Diagnosis

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Ina, IL

Hello, I am new to this site. My doctor believes that I am Serum Negative RA, so I am having trouble getting into a specialist. Has anyone else had this problem. My inflammatory markers are rather high, and suggestive of RA. I was diagnosed in 2000 with Fibromyalgia, but this is a different kind of pain it is in my hands, and has traveled to my elbows and other joints. It sure is frustrating.

I also have had zero-negative RA for 11 years. I would definitely go see a rheumatologist. Treatment medications can definitely help.

I am negative also, but I have seen 6 rheumys (2 retired and 2 I did not care for), all of them diagnosed RA. I had ultra sound on my joints at Johns Hopkins. That does not lie.
