I have recently been diagnosed with RA. I am concerned about taking the medications because of side effects, mainly a compromised immune system.Folic acid, plaquinil, methotrexate.I would like to know if anyone has advice for me.

I also recently diagnosed clinically 6 months ago. I knew I had RA and refused to see a reumy because I did not want to take medications. I am on injectable methotrexate with no side effects at all. Not working real well as Dr. Just asked that I try a biologic. I have to think about this, and imagine that as before the benefit wil outweigh the risk.
My hands and feet are pretty ugly but it is what it is...I am glad as well that I found this site.. It is so awesome to know we arent alone.
The way I've had to look at it because I hate taking all these meds is as bad as my disease is now if I don't find something to slow it down I'm going to be in real trouble.
Good luck.
I am on the same meds and have good days and not so good days.
But as someone else mentioned you have to slow the progression down.
