Also Finn Comfort shoes are wide, the sandals are adjustable so you can loosen or tighten them according to swelling. I had foot problems so I had a varity of Finn Comfort and Abeo shoes from the Walking store company which are cheaper. My feet and hands were sore and swollen, but changed durning the day depending if I had iced or had taken aleve so it was handy to adjust the shoes. Also had to change to different shoes about every 2-4 hours so the swelling would hit different places. Also had to wear ankle braces for the pain and several shoes were wide enough so I could wear them. Now in my 6th month of tx and a lot of the swelling has gone down but still glad of the wide adjustable shoes. The shoes are expensive but I have had some for years and they still look good and with new insoles which are orthotic they wear well.

Shoes are very individual. I wear Teva sandals in the summer and Sketcher sneakers to work. I find the Sketchers are softer and come in a wide width. I think the key to buying shoes with RA is to try them at the end of the day when your feet are swollen and sore. If they are comfortable then, You know they will be ok.

I wear athletic sandals all summer, those are the best for me as they will adjust to the tightness. Winter is much more difficult to find something. New Balances come in wide, so they are my shoe of choice.
