Was diagnosed with chronic bursitis in hip, advised the pain is not from RA but prednisone would definitely help ease the pain. If it's not RA is this possible. Confused....
I am recently diagnosed by my PCP. I was experiencing significant bi-lateral pain in hands, knees, and wrists. While I wait to see the rheumatologist he referred me to he prescribed 12 days of prednisone starting with 30 MG and tapering from there. Started the first step of taper today. Yesterday and today I have felt better than I have in over a month. My question is this...how long can I expect to be pain free as the dosage tapers and stops? Not looking forward to the pain again. I have been in endless wrist, hand and now shoulder flares for the past nine months. diagnosed in late 2017 and put on methotrexate and enbrel. Both stopped working late December 2018. Then the massive painful flares began. Worse than when first diagnosed.

I read a lot of unfortunate stories here of folks with RA having had or need joint replacements.
My question is were you on DMARDS/ biologics since you got RA and STILL needed your joint(s) replaced?
Or did u go years before u got on a RA meds, so it was already too much damage for DMARDS to help much by then?
Now, being on prednisone and/or NSAIDS ALONE for years doesn’t count, as they can not possibly stop joint damage anyway.
